Hi, I’m ‘Ned’. I’ve been involved in horticulture for over 35 years and in theory should be able to answer most questions that you throw at me. Having studied at Myrscough and Hadlow Horticultural Colleges for 5 years I then went on to work as a garden centre manager and became involved in landscape design and contracting work in 1967. In dealing with the general public everyday I must have been asked almost every conceivable gardening question. Regular customers sometimes just pop in to the centre to pick my brains for some free gardening advice.

No matter how simple or complex the question maybe, I’ll do my utmost to reply with a practical answer that will hopefully solve your problem.

I get hundreds of enquiries every week through the website and the centre and in the unlikely event that myself and the team are stumped then we’ll refer to our comprehensive horticultural library.

If you have a gardening question or problem that you can’t solve then first take a look at our frequently asked questions section. The chances are that I’ve already answered it for someone else. If you can’t find the answer that you are looking for then just click the ask Ned button, type your question and I’ll endeavour to email an answer within 48 hours.

I will answer every question that is sent in and those that seem to be regular problems will be posted on the site. Please be patient when waiting for an answer, at busy times it may take a day or two to get back to you. If you have a gas barbeque question, then ask Sue, our resident design expert.
